Attendance Counts
Expect to hear this phrase from us for the rest of the year. This year we are focusing on educating parents and students about the importance of being in school. Very simply – students cannot learn if they are not in school.

The only valid excuses for missing school are: illness, medical appointments, & funeral services for immediate family members. ( Please refer to CA. Edcuational Codes 48205, 45194, 46014)  We urge you to try to schedule doctor and dental appointments after school, when possible. Verification of an absence must be completed within 5 school days. CVUSD BP 5113(b)  When a student has 10 excused absences in the school year for illness, any further absences for illness may require verification by a physician.  CVUSD AR 5113(c)

Good attendance habits start at the kindergarten level and must be reinforced by parents at all times. Bad habits that are tolerated can turn in to truancies as children mature. Parents can be, and are held, responsible.

We are partnering with some of our strongest allies throughout the County of San Bernardino this year to drive the message home – if you are a student, you are to be in class; not loitering in the halls, not at the mall or a fast food restaurant, but in class.
